Kind Green Planet's Mary Max, along with her husband Peter Max, the League of Humane Voters of New York City, Kristen Johnson, Nellie McKay, and Ally Sheedy, are hosting a Manhattan screening of Blinders: The Truth Behind the Tradition, a new award-winning, hour-long documentary about the plight of NYC's carriage horses. After the movie, there is going to be a panel discussion with the filmmaker Donny Moss, Council Member Tony Avella (D-Queens), Edison Properties CEO Steve Nislick, and NYC Council candidate (District 3) and civil rights attorney Yetta Kurland. The panel is sure to be interesting and empowering. Not only will the cruelties of the industry be discussed but also the progress of the city bill to ban carriage rides and the proposal to replace them with antique, electric-powered cars. Tickets are just $10 and they can be purchased at: www.humanenyc.org/blinders
